There may be instances where you’ll need to temporarily take an employee off payroll and then bring them back on at a later date. Moreover, you may want to rehire an employee temporarily to pay them an off-cycle payment.
To take an employee off of payroll, go to People > employee’s name > Terminate > Continue to dismiss
Select the date you’d like to have the employee terminated on and select “Save”. The employee will now appear in People > Alumni > employee’s name
Now, to add the employee back to payroll:
Select the employee’s profile by going to People > Alumni > Employee’s name > Rehire
The system will ask you to select a rehire date – make the rehire date the same day as the employee’s original hire date. Then, select “Rehire”
Note: You may need to prorate the employee’s salary on payroll.
After the employee has been paid, don’t forget to terminate them and make the termination date the same as the original termination date.
